Question:

What player did you grow up admiring?

Answer:

I would say Kevin Garnett. He has a frame somewhat similar to me, and is so versatile. He can do so many things both offensively and defensively that I really grew up watching and studying his game.

What do you like to do when you are not playing hoops?

Answer:

I like to fish and I am a big fan of seeing movies.

Question:

How old were you when you first dunked? What was that experience like?

Answer:

I was in the 8th grade the first time I threw one down. I couldn't believe it. It was an awesome feeling. Then when I tried to do it again, I couldn't, so it made me keep working hard to get that feeling again.

Question:

What player would you compare yourself to?

Answer:

I don’t know, I really haven’t been any thought into that. Most likely though, Tayshaun Prince and Chris Bosh.

Question:

How do you see yourself in the NBA in 5 years from now?

Answer:

I hope to be perennial all-star in five years; that’s my goal. Whatever team I’m on I want to win games and be a contender.

Confident Randolph giving Warriors a good first impression

As Stephen Jackson caught his breath during 1-on-1 drills this week, Anthony Randolph showed off the benefits of youth. Left alone in the open court, Randolph threw a pass to himself off the backboard and finished with a two-handed dunk.

So what if it was just conditioning work. Randolph was still going to show off his game.

“He’s definitely raw, but I like his attitude,” Jackson said. “He doesn’t back down. He feels like he’s an All-Star right now, not in a cocky sense, but he’s confident.”

Not since Monta Ellis has there been a Warriors rookie who exudes such swagger. As one team official put it, Randolph steps onto the court acting as if he not only belongs in the NBA, but is the best player out there.

Patrick O’Bryant didn’t have the look. Brandan Wright isn’t the fiery type. Randolph, though, has looked and played the part well enough to be named a training camp standout by Jackson.

“He’s going to be a good player,” Jackson said.

To the Warriors, who had Randolph fall into their lap on draft night, it’s a matter of when. Not if.

Coach Don Nelson has been using the 6-foot-10, 200-pounder as a power forward, though the skinny Randolph projects to be a small forward in the future.
